Important information about your travel insurance
Insurance notes
- Cancellation cover commences at the date of booking. Your other insurance cover commences when you start your holiday and ceases on your return home at the end of the holiday (or at the end of the period of insurance whichever is sooner).
- The summary of cover must be read in conjunction with the Policy Wording which contains full details, definitive terms, conditions and exclusions. If you wish to inspect the Policy Wording, you can read it here, or we will send you a copy.
- We will provide you with your Personal Insurance document with your holiday confirmation invoice.
- The Breakdown Insurance document will be sent out with your tickets.
- You should advise your car insurers you are taking your car abroad and ask for a Green Card. Some may make a supplementary charge for extending cover for driving in Europe.
- If you select Combined Insurance, and you change your vehicle, or decide later to take a trailer, you must notify us of the new vehicle details/the new vehicle age/the trailer details.
- For the purposes of this insurance, our tents, mobile homes, lodges and chalets are deemed safe areas in which to keep your luggage (excluding valuables), providing the tent is zipped up or the mobile home or lodge locked.
- We are committed to offering our clients the best possible advice with respect to the travel insurance detailed on these pages.
This insurance is underwritten by Travel Insurance Facilities plc and insured by Union Reiseversicherung AG, UK Branch.
Telling us about relevant facts
Before you travel you must tell us about anything that may affect your cover. If you do not tell us about something that may be relevant, your cover may be refused and we may not cover any related claims.
Policy document
The policy wording gives you full details of what is and what is not covered and what to do if you need to claim. It is very important that you read the whole of this policy before you travel and make sure the cover is suitable for you. A copy of the policy wording is available on request.
Policy limits
Each section of the policy shows the most you can claim but other limits may apply. For example under the personal possessions section there are other specific limits for any one item and for valuables (including photographic equipment). If you intend to take expensive items with you please check that you are fully covered.
Conditions and exclusions
Your policy does not cover all possible events and expenses. There are conditions and exclusions that apply to individual sections of the policy and general conditions and exclusions that apply to the whole policy.
Health exclusion
This insurance may not cover claims arising from your pre-existing medical conditions. Please read the following questions carefully:
1) Have you, or anyone travelling with you, ever had treatment for:
- any heart or circulatory condition
- a stroke or high blood pressure
- a breathing condition (including asthma)
- any type of cancer
- any type of diabetes
2) In the last two years, have you, or anyone who is travelling with you:
- been treated for any serious or re-occurring medical condition
- asked to take regular prescribed medication
- or referred to a specialist or consultant at a hospital for tests, diagnosis or treatment?
If you have answered ‘Yes’ to any of the above questions you must tell the insurers using their help line.
You must also tell the insurers if you are waiting for tests or treatment of any description; or your doctor alters your regular prescribed medication.
PLEASE NOTE – Insurers are unable to provide cover for:
- psychological conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders or mental instability
- any claim arising from a known pre-existing medical condition of a close relative or a close business associate or any recognised complication caused by the pre existing medical condition.
Hazardous activities
If you are going to take part in any hazardous sports or activities you should check that the policy covers you.
Cancellation rights
If your cover does not meet your requirements, please return the documentation within 14 days of receipt and your premium will be refunded in full unless you have travelled made a claim or intend to make a claim.
Please note that your cancellation rights are no longer valid after this initial 14 day period.
Policy excess
Under some sections of your policy, you will have to pay an excess. This means that you will be responsible for paying the first part of the claim for each person insured, for each section, for each incident. The amount you have to pay is the excess.
Making a complaint
The policy contains a complaints procedure which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint. Governing law Unless agreed otherwise, English law will apply and all communication and documentation in relation to this policy will be in English. (All details are correct as at date of print but subject to change without notice.)
