Places to see & things to do whilst camping in the Côte d’Azur

St Tropez – a once busy fishing port that is today one of the most stylish and flamboyant resorts on the Riviera. Climb the hilltop citadel for wonderful views over the Gulf of St Tropez, or take a boat trip from St Raphaël and view the yachts of the rich and famous. However you decide to spend your time, your Côte d’Azur campsite awaits after an exciting day out.

Monaco – this tiny principality is well worth a day trip whilst on a Côte d’Azur camping holiday. One of the best ways to see the main sights is to take a trip on the tourist train. You can sit back as you pass wonderful views of the port and palace, as well as the casino district of Monte Carlo and part of the Grand Prix racing track.

Cannes – known as a city of festival and entertainment. You can stroll along the Boulevard de la Croissette, lined with pretty gardens and palm trees, and look out for the ‘hands of fame’, set in concrete.

Gorges du Verdon – one of the natural wonders of Europe, a superb canyon cutting through chalky mountains, offering some dramatic scenery and a stark contrast to the coastal resorts and pretty Côte d’Azur campsites. The scenery is best seen from the viewing points, which include Pont Sublime, not for those without a head for heights.

Grasse – a charming town situated in the hills and world famous for its perfume distilleries. A guided tour around one of the perfume houses makes for an interesting day out whilst on a Côte d’Azur camping holiday.

Aquatica – a trip to this waterpark in Fréjus is an excellent way to cool off. There are slides here of every description - try out the unique twister slide - and the largest wave pool in Europe. The ideal choice for family Côte d’Azur camping holidays.

Getting there

We recommend you take a landbridge crossing to the UK, then take one of the following crossings.

Short Sea Crossing
From Calais the Côte d'Azur is about 750 miles (14hrs) using the motorways. We recommend an overnight stop at Gigny or Vandenesse campsites or at a hotel.

Long Sea Crossing
Take an overnight crossing to Le Havre or Dieppe - it is around 690 miles (12hrs) to the Côte d’Azur. Stay overnight at one of the Burgundy sites or at a hotel.

Motorail
Take the overnight Motorail from Calais to Nice, from where it is about an hours drive to site.

By Air
Several low cost airlines operate flights to Nice. From there, it is about an hours drive to the campsites.
