Places to see & things to do when camping in the Loire Valley

Futuroscope – a futuristic theme park, featuring more than 30 different audiovisual shows. See the T-Rex brought to life in a spectacular 3D show, or join the Race for Atlantis, an exciting way to spend a day whilst camping in the Loire Valley. As night falls, a spectacular light and water performance set around the lake makes for a breathtaking evening.

Tours – a lively town with a cosmopolitan feel. Close enough to our Loire Valley campsites for a day trip, you will find a lovely old quarter where you can explore the maze of winding streets lined by half-timbered houses before heading to the superb shopping centre.

Château de Chenonceau – a beautiful château, renowned for its formal gardens and the long gallery, housed in the stunning bridge that spans the river Cher. Hire a canoe and take a trip under its arches, a really different way to see the river whilst camping in the Loire Valley.

Le Mans 24 Hour Race – the gruelling 24 hour race that tests both the skills of drivers and the performance of their cars. Our Loire campsites are the closest to the race, and you too can be there, following every hour of the race to see who will triumph in 2010.

Amboise – a delightful town on the banks of the Loire, nestled under a fortified château, one of the first royal residences to be built in the region, adding a touch of culture to your Loire camping holiday.

Château de Chambord – the largest and most extravagant of the Loire châteaux. Climb to the roof terrace for an expansive view over the forest, and enjoy a walk and picnic in the grounds, before returning to your Loire Valley campsite.

Getting to the Loire

From Ireland we recommend you take a landbridge crossing to the UK, then take a crossing as detailed below.

Short Sea Crossing
You can reach our Loire campsites in a day from Calais. It is 300 miles (6hrs) to Blois, Chambord and Pierrefitte and 350mls to Tours.

Long Sea Crossing
If you travel via Dieppe (Caen or Le Havre) your journey will be cut by approximately 100 miles. Coming from Cherbourg, most of the Loire sites are 250 miles, while it is a 300 mile trip from Roscoff.

By Air
Fly to Tours airport and be on site in around an hour.
