The cost of travelling without insurance can be high, not only financially but in terms of disruption to your family holiday.
With over 40 years experience of arranging self-drive family holidays we think we know many of the pitfalls that befall our clients when travelling in Europe so we have selected a reputable insurer who offers a wide range of policy options. The special policies we have agreed with Mondial Assistance are specifically designed to cover the problems encountered on motoring holidays. So if your car breaks down, for example, the insurer will arrange a hire car or overnight accommodation while your car is repaired.

Booking conditions
It is a condition of booking with Canvas Holidays that, at the time of booking, you either give us details of the insurance cover you have in place (which must provide the same level of cover as our policy) or that you take our insurance. Please see clause 9 of our booking terms and conditions.
Whilst it is your responsibility to obtain adequate insurance for all members in your party, we, as experts in overseas travel, will be very happy to help you meet this responsibility with our specially tailored travel and motor breakdown insurance packages which are simple to understand and sensibly priced. We do not give advice or make personal recommendations in relation to any travel insurance product. You must make your own decision as to whether any insurance product we offer is suitable for your requirements. Please see Policy Details above for the exclusions that apply to these policies.
If you wish to cancel your insurance policy you may do so within 14 days of booking unless you have already travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim.
Equipment Breakage - cover only €22 per party
For just €22 per party you are covered for up to 31 days for accidental damage and loss of equipment occurring in or to your Canvas accommodation. Even if there is an accident that results in serious damage, there is no extra to pay (the Breakage Waiver is non-refundable). If you choose not to take the Breakage Waiver you will be asked to complete a Declaration Bond with your couriers on arrival at each campsite. By signing this form, you are agreeing to pay for any damage caused to your accommodation and/or inventory upon your departure. Please note that the Breakage Waiver does not cover any equipment which is removed from the safety of the campsite.
Personal and Car Breakdown Insurance - insurance packages for the whole family
We have negotiated family insurance packages for two adults and all dependent children. These packages offer considerable savings on our individual personal insurance and car breakdown prices.
Family Plus Package
Pay for vehicle and two adults and all dependent children are free (which is a saving of up to €184 on a personal insurance premium, if you are travelling with four children)
