Meanwhile, Campsite Lago Maggiore and Campsite Isolino are ideal for holidays away from the crowds on the peaceful shores of Lake Maggiore.
One of our most stunningly situated campsites with direct access to a lake is Campsite Manor Farm, a lovely 5* resort that yields extraordinary panoramas of alpine mountains that reflect beautifully off Lake Thun. This excellent family friendly resort is popular with campers who fancy trying a vast selection of aquatic activities, as well as exploring the gorgeous mountain town of Interlaken.
Holidaymakers who wish to enjoy a lake camping holiday in France will find plenty of fantastic options dotted throughout the country. Among the most popular destinations is Lake Biscarrosse in the southwest of France, which can be visited while on a stay at 5* Campsite Mayotte Vacances or Campsite Domaine de la Rive.
Another popular place is the Lake of Sainte-Croix, one of the most attractive places to visit while holidaying in Provence. The turquoise blue waters of Sainte-Croix are fed from the river Verdon, where a few campsites nestle, namely the picturesque resorts of 4* Campsite Le Coteau de la Marine, Campsite Les Prés du Verdon and 4* Campsite Verdon Parc.
There are many more great options for camping by the lake such as Campsite Domaine de Chalain that perches itself on the shores of Lac de Chalain with its inviting emerald waters. An outdoor escape close to water rewards campers with the chance to try many aquatic based activities. The options on offer for things to do are extensive, and cater the whims of all kinds of holidaymakers.
Fans of water sports will feel right at home on a camping break by the lake, where they can fill their days with recreational pursuits such as windsurfing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, jet skiing, parasailing, sailing, snorkelling, diving, pedalo boating, and of course, swimming. Lovers of both gentle strolls and challenging hikes can find scenic shoreline trails that boasts stunning views.
One of our favourite activities on bigger lakes, such as Lake Garda, is to explore the picturesque fishing towns and shoreline villages. There’s much pleasure in skimming across the lake by boat, stopping in at scenic spots overlooking the lake.
