Things to do when camping in Côtes d'Armor
Kissing the waves of the English Channel, Côtes d'Armor’s beautiful coastline features many of the department’s most iconic tourist attractions. Spend time by the sea to enjoy numerous fishing villages, striking pink granite cliffs and picturesque beaches that are perfect for family day trips.
There are plenty of towns, villages and hamlets to visit and enjoy on the superb shores of the department, but we’d highly recommend that guests visit Saint‑Quay‑Portrieux while taking a camping holiday in Côtes d'Armor . With fishing ports aplenty, the town is famous for its trade in seafood, with notable catches of the day including scallops, mackerel and sea bass. There are a few scenic beaches around the town, so plan for a day lazing on the sands or splashing in the sea.
Saint‑Quay‑Portrieux nestles on the renowned GR®34 long-distance footpath, where excellent panoramas and views can be enjoyed on a hiking or walking trip. The sands of Plage du Casino and Plage du Châtelet beaches are popular with holidaymakers and locals alike, and sea canoeing and boat trips to the offshore islands are highly recommended.
On the Plougrescant peninsula, famous for oyster farming, visitors can behold a majestically beautiful coastal area that is deluged with charming ports and stunning emerald green seawater. In the quaint town of Lamballe, day-trippers can wander through the historic streets where they can appreciate half-timbered houses, the Breton Postiers stud and the 15th century Maison du Bourreau.
The gothic Cathedral of Saint-Tugdual is perhaps the most popular attraction to see in the pretty town of Tréguier, along with its waterside harbour, magical streets and gorgeous countryside. The royal abbey of Léhon promises romance, history and heritage, and can be found in the lovely Rance Valley.
With a sprawling green terrain, the landscapes of Côtes d'Armor are ideal for lovers of outdoor activities. With beautiful woodlands, picturesque walking trails, rivers, streams and Neolithic standing stones, the national park of Les Gorges du Corong is ideal for peaceful walks in nature.
Remember to bring your camera if you visit the pink granite cliffs of Ploumanac'h. Couple your day to this striking seaside attraction with lazing on a beach in the town of Perros.
The idyllic islands of Les 7 îles, the ruins of Abbey Beauport, Phare de Men Ruz Lighthouse, Château de la Roche-Jagu, Castle Hunaudaye and Lake Bleus, are other fantastic places of interest to consider while holidaying in Côtes d'Armor.
