Things to do when camping in Haut-Rhin

Offering stunning views and panoramas, the peaks in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park is a paradise for lovers of hiking, walking or biking. From the picturesque summits of the Grand Ballon, the park’s highest apex, and the popular Hohneck, visitors can appreciate a landscape of green rolling valleys and woodland. With 14 mountain peaks to choose from or countless trails to enjoy on foot, bicycle or horseback, the possibilities are endless.
Providing a scenic place to stroll, the shores of the aptly named Green Lake, White Lake and Black Lake are lined with pretty forests and foothills. For a multitude of captivating flora and fauna, consider a day trip to the lovely Nature Reserve of the Petite Camargue in the south of the department.

The commune of Riquewihr more than matches Colmar in the charm stakes, as this enchanting town features characterful streets and buildings along with tourist attractions such as the Tower Museum of Thieves, the Upper Door and the Butterfly Gardens. Riquewihr lies on the famous Haut-Rhin wine trail and is an ideal base for exploring the nearby castle and gardens of Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg.
Kayersberg, Eguisheim and Ribeauvillé are among the best alternatives to Colmar and Riquewihr, while the fascinating open-air Alsace Heritage Museum is a great place to learn about the history, heritage and culture of Alsace.
