A camping holiday in Haute-Corse by the sea invites campers to savour long sunny days on dazzling white sandy beaches kissed by the gentle waves of the Mediterranean Sea. The shores, along with blissful beaches, feature sweeping bays, hidden coves and scenic coastal towns.
Along with relaxing days by the sea, visitors to Corsica should make the most of the array of water sports available on the coast. If you’ve never tried any aquatic activities before, now is your time to enjoy surfing, jet skiing, diving, stand up paddle boarding, sea canoeing, and snorkelling.
Although there are nice beaches and coastal locations close by our campsites in Haute-Corse, we recommend exploring the island by car. There are numerous blissful beaches and quaint seaside towns hugging the shoreline, most notably on the Cap Corse at the very northern tip of Corsica.
In Bastia, a vibrant port town that welcomes ferries from mainland France, visitors can savour nice eating experiences in the cafes and restaurants, as well as some retail therapy in the numerous shops. There are a few notable tourist attractions, with the interesting Bastia Museum providing insights into the island’s history and heritage. The best place for people watching is Place Saint Nicolas, which also hosts a flea market on the weekend. The standout architectural highlight of the town is the towering Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Bastia church.
As you travel away from the coastline, the terrain becomes more rugged but no less beautiful. The landscapes feature mountains, valleys, rivers that gently bleed into lakes, woodland and quaint villages that time forget. Explore the hinterland on a calming hike or walk, or breeze through the countryside on your bicycle.
Monte Cinto, the tallest peak on the island offers challenging climbs to the summit where visitors are rewarded with excellent panoramic views of the heartland. Superb walking and hiking trips are promised in Restonica Valley, home to gorges, meandering rivers and pine forests. The Asco Valley should also be considered if you are on the hunt for amazing outdoor activities in beautiful nature.
On the western side of the island, the popular resort of Calvi boasts stunning beaches and a handful of tourist attractions worthy of a visit. Spend half a day sunning yourself on soft golden sands before taking in La Citadelle de Calvi, Revellata lighthouse, Grotte des Veaux Marins and Port de Calvi.
