Immerse yourself in the calm coastal ambiance of the department, where seemingly endless beaches stretch into the distance before being broken up by blissful rocky bays, sweeping coves and trendy seaside villages. Whether you want to lie on the soft sands while being lulled by the Atlantic Ocean or trek along the seafront, you can find it all from the convenience of our campsites.
Long lazy days filled with hours of sunshine are best enjoyed on the beach, and the lovely sands and turquoise waters of Plage de La Baule Beach are our top recommendation. Other notable beaches worth visiting for a pleasant day by the sea are Saint Marc sur Mer Plage de Monsieur Hulot and Plage de Port Lin.
If you fancy being active and exploring the department on foot or by bike, there are plenty of places to enjoy walks and cycling trips. Along with lovely flora and fauna, the marshland of the Brière Natural Regional Park features nice walking trails, while La Loire à vélo is arguably the most picturesque place for a cycling excursion.
While the department has many natural areas of outstanding beauty, some of the manmade attractions are equally beautiful and immensely interesting. The majestic castles of Château des ducs de Bretagne, Château de Goulaine, Château de Châteaubriant and Château de Clisson intrigue and inspire awe in all those who visit.
Young visitors will be pleasantly surprised by the vast amount of things to do for kids while camping in Loire-Atlantique. They can marvel at the giant mechanical elephant at Machines of the Isle of Nantes and see real ones at La Boissière-du-Doré Zoo.
