The Loiret is a destination blessed with a wealth of natural heritage sites that offer the perfect place for both active recreations and relaxing pursuits. The lovely woodlands and ponds of the Sologne region are a great place to explore, either on foot or by bicycle. A diverse mix of plant life and wildlife live in the Sologne, as well as picturesque villages such as Chaumont-sur-Tharonne and Souvigny-en-Sologne. In Orléans Forest, walkers and hikers will love traversing the three distinct mountain areas of Massif d'Orléans, Massif d'Ingrannes and Massif de Lorris. Blossoming gardens in the department are stunning horticultural havens that will delight green fingered campers. With well-maintained flowerbeds, immaculately lawns and precisely preened bushes and hedges, the gardens of Parc Floral de la Source are a great place to appreciate iris flowers, roses and dahlias.
