Perfectly positioned between the vibrant coastal destinations of La Rochelle and Rochefort in Charente-Maritime, 4* Campsite Domaine des Charmilles is a resort with a real French flavour. It’s set on the picturesque Fouras peninsula in Nouvelle Aquitaine, opposite the Ile d’Oleron, close to some fascinating sights such as Fort Boyard, Aix Island and Fort Enet.
The superb water park onsite is a great place to feel the energy and fun of the campsite, where four swimming pools are complemented by a spacious sun terrace and a selection of water slides. One of the pools is covered and heated, while another has shallow water for young swimmers.
With sociable and stimulating activities, the children’s club onsite is the best place for energetic youngsters. They can bond with fellow campers while enjoying treasure hunts, handicraft workshops, sports tournaments and much more. Along with fitness classes such as Aquagym and yoga, sporting activities include football, volleyball, table tennis and petanque.
The best way to eke out every hour of your day at the campsite is to stay up and enjoy the exciting evening entertainment programme. Kids will love watching magic shows, clown acts and dancing at the mini disco while adults can let their hair down with some karaoke, party games and much more. Entertainment for the whole family includes live shows and concerts.
Along with a warm welcome from the friendly staff, guests at the resort can enjoy a host of services and facilities including a bar, pizzeria, gourmet corner, snack bar and mini market.

The town of Fouras, just 3km away, has five fantastic beaches – the biggest being the Grand Plage. This beach is great for children with its gently sloping shores and calm waters. For extra reassurance, the beach has lifeguards during July and August.
The area surrounding the campsite is well worth exploring with the fascinating cities of La Rochelle and Rochefort both within a 25-minute drive. Ile de Ré and Ile d’Oleron are both within an hour’s drive from the campsite and are brilliant for exploring on bike.
This region of France is rich in history so it’s worth taking the time to drive around and explore. Fouras has many landmarks of this region’s turbulent past including Fort Vauban and Fort Enet. A must do in the area is to take a boat to Ile d’Aix from Fouras, and enjoy a ride around Fort Boyard. Enquire at the local tourist office or on the campsite for the best options for your party.
