The beautiful Forêt de La Coubre national park is at the outer point of the peninsula, separating Gironde from the oyster beds of Marennes. There are numerous trails for walkers and cyclists to explore.
Royan is a popular seaside resort with sandy beaches and shops, restaurants, cafes and a covered market. You can take the boat to Port Bloc from here, which is located on the other side of Gironde.
