If you enjoy history you should take a visit to Château Woolsack in Mimizan, a short distance from the campsite. The former hunting lodge was built in 1911 on the shores of Lake Aureilhan by Hugh Grosvenor, the 2nd Duke of Westminster. It’s said to replicate the Tudor style of the home of Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book and was regularly visited by the likes of Coco Chanel, Charlie Chaplin and Winston Churchill.
